Bloodhound Release!

Hello friends! So BLOODHOUND is finally out, for about a week now, so I'm sure most of you tore through it.

Hopefully its release will get this community alive again?? :-D

Feel free to start up any discussions or topics about the book. (Team_fen, you guys are good at that haha.) I'm not done yet, but I'm finding counterfeit money to be quite interesting!

Anyway..just wanted to say, happy book release! Yay!!!

There is a fairly active provosts dog forum over at goldenlake (fiefgoldenlake.proboards.com) if you're looking for discussion :)

Heya! May I just say that I kind of love that TP has written a book about economic collapse. Nicely timed, Madam. Unfortunately I'm afraid I am not likely to get to a bookstore any time soon (and Imo is busy doing homework, so far as I know), but I would love to talk about counterfeiting! The process is fascinating - and pretty much always more work than actually making originals.

I'm assuming that they're reproducing coins, not paper notes (as there are no printing presses) and that the coins are made of metals of less value with a similar but not exact weight. But is there magic involved somewhere? And more important, whose face is on the coin??? :D

I don't think there has ever been mention of any paper notes in Tortall or the surrounding countries. Perhaps they are at the stage when paper was extremely expensive and valuable, and there were no printing presses? All done by hand?

So if they are reproducing coins, the historical countermeasures in those kinds of societies were, what? Biting on the coins to check alloy strength, or perhaps weighing scales to test the alloy weight against a standard for banks or merchants? Magic would definitely complicate the entire process, on both sides of the law. --Imo

Heyyyyyyy, Reena!

I haven't read the new book yet, but apparently everyone is interested in counterfeiting! Who knew? I am also interested in knowing whose profile is on the coins!

I hope there is more Rosto/Kora/Aniki love triangle, because that was a lot of fun in the first one. --Imo
